In the poem she is demanding his presence and his love this is a use of an effect as well as the dashes and the pauses there are a lot of commas so in general there is a lot of punctuation and enjambment

When there is a pause or break in the middle of a line from the Latin word meaning cut. Often found alongside enjambment this is called caesura passionate and intended tone the vines don’t grow in a certain way this gives me an idea that she is not thinking clearly she calls him a palm tree I associate tall people and relaxed it’s just exotic also it is really religious
The speaker is very observant because of the way she describes the tree you have to of observed this also she is very detailed
At the end of the poem she says I do. Not hunk of thee I am to near thee this means she dose not need to think of him anymore because she is with him.

The poems form is a dramatic monologue which comes in the form as a long stanza.

The narrator is love sick and cicotioc he’s in love so badly it comes to the point where he has to kill her also portphya means diese and when you have it you die

Porphyria arrives at the cottage
Porphyria says she loves him
He killed her
He pretends she’s still alive

An Elgi is a poem of serious reflection typically a lament for the dead

This poem has 6 stanzas it is interesting because it is one line and in this one line it gives us a lot of information and it is a completely different way to end a poem as I have not seen this before and it tells us that the poem is reflected in one line and it takes away all the attention

The poet uses loads of detail because it gives effect also it shows us how much he cares and his feelings as I get an understanding of how he feel in that present moment

I think he did as he would not put so much effort and detail when he speaks about them if he did not

In my opinion he is referring to Greek mythology when he speaks about the river and he might be speaking about it as if they are in the other side in the underworld

I believe that the simile in stanza 4 is “the sky whitens as if lit by three suns” this is the simile as he uses the word or which is used in an simile

Homework

Carol Ann Duffy explores ideas about the relationship in before you where mine by making the daughter speak about how much she loves her mother and admirers her mother but in past tense the going to present tense we know this because in the first stanza the daughter talks about when her mum was on their corner that she used to laugh on and at the start it says ten years ago this shows us that she ios talking in past tense and she is not even born yet

She then goes into more definition about how she is taking as if she is. It alive also the grandma is waiting for the mum to come

We know she idols her mum because she says ”your polka dot dress blows round your legs Marlyn this is her comparing her mum to Marlyn monroe and as we know Marlyn monroe is was a Huge women figure and for her to compare her to Marlyn is a big thing and shows what type of relationship they have.they then start to talk about the mums fashion and how she was a baby and would play in her mums shoes.some of the      themes explored in the poem is motherhood love relationships and imagination

the poem is in chronologicol order as it is at the start when she isnot yet born the poem is moving through time also this poem is regular and has no rhyme sceme

the tone is admiring I say this because in the poem the daughter says “I’m ten years away from the corner you laugh on” also this tells me that the daughter is admiring her mother
